P&H: FIR quashed against two accused after compromise, says criminal case would be futile

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has quashed an FIR and all consequential proceedings against two accused after finding that the dispute had been settled through a genuine compromise.

The petition was filed by Hari Om Singh Tomar and another, who sought quashing of FIR No. 351 dated 4 October 2025 registered at Police Station Ambala Cantt, District Ambala. The FIR had been lodged under Sections 406, 420 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code. During investigation, provisions of the Cheat Fraud Act, 1978 and the Price and Money Deposit Provision Act, 2019 were also added.
